Our patient was an otherwise healthy-appearing 43-year-old black man who was informed recently that his life expectancy may be shortened. He had had a “wound on his foot” for several years, but he did not seek medical attention until it began to produce an odor. Acral lentiginous melanoma (ALM) involving the heel of his right foot and regional lymph node spread was diagnosed by biopsy and computed tomography (CT) scan.
