Dr. Roy Herbst is Chief, Thoracic Head and Neck Medical Oncology, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. He is also Associate Editor of The Oncology Report, an Elsevier publication.

Studies with the most immediate clinical relevance presented at the 2009 World Conference on Lung Cancer focused on epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene mutations and the use of EGFR inhibitors. Commenting on the conference highlights, Dr. Roy Herbst noted that these studies reflect a general trend toward a more personalized approach to the treatment of patients with lung cancer.
