Acupuncture in Breast Cancer

(00:03:14) Elsevier Global Medical News, 2008 Dec 12, B Jancin

Dr. Jessica Frisk is a general surgeon at Linköping University in Sweden.

Acupuncture cut the number of hot flashes by more than half in breast cancer patients and also proved as effective as hormone therapy in improving sleep and quality of life. The durability of acupuncture’s effects in this 45-patient randomized trial was particularly noteworthy, reported Dr. Frisk at SABCS 2008, with benefits lasting up to 9 months after completion of the 12-week treatment course.
