Role of DNA-Based Test As CRC Screen

Dr. Sanford Markowitz is Ingalls Professor of Cancer Genetics, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.

ColoSure, a new, DNA-based noninvasive test had sensitivity and specificity rates of >80% for detecting colorectal cancer in studies involving 363 people. The new test may offer an alternative screen for people who refuse to undergo or cannot afford colonoscopy, the gold standard screen for this cancer, said Dr. Sanford Markowitz at an AACR-sponsored conference.
