BERLIN (EGMN) - Women with metastatic breast cancer live considerably longer if they receive surgery of the primary tumor rather than palliative treatment, a more common option, according to a study presented at a major European cancer meeting.Women who had surgery survived an average of 31 months, compared with 14 months for those who did not, in the retrospective analysis of 728 women with stage IV breast cancer at initial presentation.The 5-year survival rates were also significantly different,...
