MONTREAL (EGMN) - Elevated levels of circulating immunoglobulin free light chains strongly predict risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma independent of CD4 count in HIV-infected individuals, a National Cancer Institute study has shown. The findings suggest that immunoglobulin free light chains may be a sensitive marker of polyclonal B-cell activation - a hallmark of most non-Hodgkin's lymphomas in HIV - and as such could potentially identify HIV-infected individuals at increased risk for developing the...
