SAN FRANCISCO (EGMN) - A cut in Medicare reimbursement for androgen deprivation therapy has selectively reduced use of this therapy in an indication for which evidence of benefit is lacking, researchers reported.In a study of Medicare beneficiaries with prostate cancer, the odds of use of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) as primary therapy for clinically localized disease, which is not supported by evidence, fell by 28% over a 2-year period during which reimbursement was halved.
