Adjuvant Chemoradiation Confers Survival Benefit After Surgery for Pancreatic Cancer

ORLANDO (EGMN) - Adjuvant chemoradiation therapy improved survival after pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic adenocarcinoma by 35%, compared with surgery alone, in a collaborative retrospective review of 1,092 patients from the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, and the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.The median overall survival when adjuvant chemoradiation therapy (CRT) was added to surgery was 21 months, versus 16 months for surgery alone.
