BOSTON (EGMN) - Adding radiotherapy to hormonal therapy in the treatment of locally advanced prostate cancer produces an absolute survival benefit of 10% above hormonal therapy alone, Swedish investigators have reported.In a phase III randomized controlled trial of nearly 900 men, overall mortality at 7 years was 20.1% among those who received androgen blockade and antiandrogen therapy, compared with 16.5% among men treated with hormonal therapy plus radiation.
