As Managing Editor for OncologySTAT, Ellen Okin Powers works closely with the Editorial and Advisory Boards to ensure the timeliness, breadth, and quality of the website’s editorial content, as well as its practical relevance to oncology professionals.

Ms. Powers brings to OncologySTAT well over 20 years’ experience in medical publishing and communications. She has particular expertise in the oncology therapeutic area, having served as Managing Editor of the journal Oncology (Huntington) for 10 years. She also served as Managing Editor of Cancer Management: A Multidisciplinary Approach, a comprehensive handbook for oncology professionals co-edited by Richard Pazdur, Lawrence Coia, William Hoskins, and Lawrence Wagman. In this role, she personally edited each chapter of this 1000-page handbook when it was first published in 2000 and worked in concert with its esteemed list of contributors on updated editions over the ensuing 3 years.

A highly seasoned medical editor and writer, Ms. Powers has edited thousands of journal articles in both oncology and various other medical disorders and has written articles for such publications as Community Oncology and Oncology News International, among others.

Ms. Powers holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Rochester, as well as a teaching certificate from Montclair State College in New Jersey.
