Roche Won't Change Avastin Price in UK, Despite NICE Cost-Effectiveness Decision

Roche won't lower the price for Avastin in an effort to convince the U.K.' s National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence to change its preliminary assessment that Avastin is not a cost-effective treatment for advanced and/or metastatic renal cell carcinoma, the firm said in an interview Aug. 13. The Aug. 7 NICE appraisal consultation document concluded that paying for a number of drugs - Avastin (bevacizumab), Pfizer's Sutent (sunitinib), Bayer's Nexavar (sorafenib) and Wyeth's Torisel (temsirolimus)...
