Erythropoietin, Darbepoetin Increase VTE Risk in Elderly Cancer Patients

Elderly cancer patients who take erythropoiesis-stimulating agents while undergoing chemotherapy are at increased risk of venous thromboembolism, according to a large epidemiologic study published online Nov. 11 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.A total of 11% of the study subjects developed venous thromboembolism.
