Invasive penile cancer is an aggressive malignancy that often requires partial or complete penile amputation. Premalignant penile lesions, such as penile intraepithelial neoplasia, will have been present prior to the development of invasive disease in a substantial percentage of patients. Early detection and treatment of premalignant penile lesions may prevent malignant progression while avoiding penile amputation.
