This review describes and discusses the advantages and limitations of proteomic approaches in the identification of biomarkers associated with chemotherapy resistance. Both gel-based (two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis) and gel-free (shotgun and quantitative) mass spectrometry approaches are discussed.
