In two phase III trials (E4599 and AVAiL), adding bevacizumab to chemotherapy significantly improved progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with advanced nonsquamous non–small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group E4599 study also showed a significant improvement in overall survival (OS) with the addition of bevacizumab.
