The National Cancer Institute of Canada Clinical Trials Group (NCIC CTG) study MA.17 was a phase III, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial designed to assess disease-free survival (DFS) in women with hormone receptor–positive early breast cancer who were treated with tamoxifen for 5 years and then given either letrozole (2.5 mg daily) or placebo.
