Adult rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a rare disease for which clinical and biologic data are limited. No large clinical trial has been performed in adult patients with RMS. Therefore, most available information comes from single-institution studies. Pediatric RMS is more common and accounts for >50% of soft tissue sarcomas in children and adolescents. After 1990, great progress was made in treating nonmetastatic pediatric RMS. Cure rates are as high as 70%, compared with only 20% to 40% for adults....
