Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a widely used marker for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Previous studies have suggested that a change in AFP may be a marker for response to surgery or systemic chemotherapy. This study evaluated whether AFP response could be a prognostic factor for survival in patients undergoing locoregional therapy for HCC.
