Significant parameters for surgery in adult intussusception

MethodsA retrospective review of records of adult patients suspected to have intussusception on CT at the Mount Sinai Medical Center from 2001 to 2007 was performed. Cases were identified through the use of the radiology database using the keywords “Intuss,” “Intussusception,” and “Intestinal Invagination.” The presence of intussusception was determined if a bowel-within-bowel appearance was noted on at least 2 sections.
